Wow, I cannot believe it has been month since I have written anything besides updates. It has been a crazy month with work and all...and since the weather has been boring(with the exception of a few bad storms) I guess I just haven't felt the need. Anyways I'm back to help serve you better.
It has been a hot spell, in fact DTW reached its all-time high for March yesterday hitting 86 degrees!!! That is insane. It I'm not mistaken we had snow on the ground this time last year. I don't believe this "winter" is totally over...not that we really had a real winter. I'm still thinking we have at least one shot at a dusting of snow at least. According to records kept Detroit Metro sees at least a trace of snow after the 1st of April 85% of the time...so odds are we will see something.
Short-term though look for some showers and storms throughout the area today through early Sunday morning. Temps will drop off to closer to normal and most of Michigan has a decent shot at frost Monday night as temps will be in the 20's to mid 30's. After that we warm back up for a bit. It is the first week of April that looks interesting...until then enjoy the warm temps!

Winter Storm To affect the area tonight into tomorrow.
Good afternoon everyone. Well here we go...for the Southeastern part of the state we are looking at our first significant snowfall of the season...hard to believe it is the end of February before it happens. The western side of the state is already under a Winter Storm Warning for 6-10 inches of snow tonight while the eastern side is under a Winter Storm watch for 4-8. The more northern areas from Alma to Big Rapids and Muskegon are under a Winter Weather Advisory for 3-6 inches of snow.
Here is my take on this storm as of now. We start off this evening with a rain/snow mix...quickly changing to all snow. Snowfall intensity will pick up throughout the night. Snowfall rates will be anywhere between one half inch to possible two inches for hour during heavier squalls. Do not be surprised if you hear some thundersnow as well...better chance for that happening in the southern half of the state. The morning commute will be a mess for most of the area south of Big Rapids.
My main concern for this storm is some warm air being thrown in and changing some of the snow to sleet or freezing rain for a bit over the southern counties. This warm air may make it up to I94. If this happens those area's snowfall totals will be cut down considerably. Stay tuned for all the latest updates. I'm out of down but will keep you informed as much as possible....also I'll be driving back during part of it tomorrow, so I will keep everyone up-to-date on road conditions.
Here is my snowfall for now....it may change later, but I'm using the most current date I can find.
